Desk Copy Requests

Please submit desk copies 6-8 weeks before the beginning of the new term to make sure you receive them on time.

Please also make sure to include all the below information as it is needed in order to process these orders.  Without this information, your order will be delayed.


Note: You must submit your book orders (with BayTree or Literary Guillotine) before or during the time you are submitting your desk copy request.  The bookstores have to confirm your orders before deskcopy orders can be placed.

Desk Copy Request: "Professor/Lecturer First and Last Name" (Quarter & Year)

Body: (please group books by publisher)

  • Course Name and Number
  • Estimated Enrollment
  • # of desk copies needed (and if more than one requested, # of TAs)
  • Bookstore you ordered the texts from (Literary Guillotine or BayTree)
    1. Title
    2. Author
    3. Publisher
    4. ISBN (13-digit preferred)
*Tip: The publishing website or Amazon.com are good sources to find the 13-digit ISBN number.  This will help ensure that the correct version of the book is ordered.

Please note that we can only request desk copies for required books.  Publishers will not send us desk copies for recommended books.

Academic Services is now requiring that library reserve requests be sent separately.  This will help avoid confusion and speed up the library reserve process.
