The Sol and Esther Draznin Memorial Scholarship in Classical Studies

To honor his parents and show his appreciation for the education he received, Classics alumnus James Draznin (‘77) established an endowment in classical studies.

Draznin says, “The education I received at UC Santa Cruz was exceptional, and I want to help make that opportunity available for other students.”

“I am honored to receive this award. I could not have learned my Greek and Latin as quickly and thoroughly as I did without the wonderful people of the Classics program. I'd like to especially thank Kristina Chew and Martin Devecka, my professors, and Leighton Smith, my Greek tutor. Somehow, my classes have managed to be quite the journey, though COVID-19 has kept me from leaving the house, and I can't wait for what's to come.”
