DEANS' & CHANCELLOR'S AWARDS

The Deans’ and Chancellor’s Awards encourage and stimulate outstanding scholarship and creativity among undergraduate students, based on work developed in courses or programs in the normal pattern of 2020-2021 academic activity at UC Santa Cruz. Ten undergraduate projects from the Humanities Division received a Deans’ Award and three Chancellor’s Awardees were selected from the Deans’ Award recipients.

DIZIKES FACULTY TEACHING AWARD

The Dizikes Faculty Teaching Award celebrates Humanities Division faculty commitment to excellence in teaching, and its transformative impact for undergraduate students. This award is named in honor of Professor Emeritus John Dizikes, a member of the founding faculty, whose powerful ability to inspire and engage generations of students exemplifies our aspirations as teachers.

THE HUMANITIES INSTITUTE AWARDS

The Humanities Institute (THI) at UC Santa Cruz is a hub for academic research, cross-discipline collaboration, and public engagement. We incubate ideas and foster innovation by funding projects, centers, and research clusters, and work with faculty to develop and steward grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Koret Foundation, UC Humanities Research Institute, and other sources.
