The Dr. Raihan Kadri Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded annually in memory of alumnus Dr. A. Raihan Kadri (Stevenson ’98, Philosophy) and Humanities Undergraduate Research Award recipient, who passed away in 2014. His partner, Tracy Longley-Cook, established the Raihan Kadri Memorial Scholarship Award in 2015.

This award is based on financial need for a student demonstrating “a commitment to the field of Philosophical Studies,” and recommended by a faculty member.

ANGELO CLAURE

Philosophy

2022-23 Kadri Memorial Scholar

Angelo is a second year Philosophy major. He has undertaken an independent study on Native American philosophies, perspectives and traditions which are often marginalized in the discipline of Philosophy.  As part of his independent research, Angelo connected with the American Indian Resource Center here on campus to learn about how Native American peoples have shared philosophy through storytelling and other oral traditions. In this and many other ways Angelo has shown exceptional initiative and dedication in his intellectual pursuits as a Philosophy major at UC Santa Cruz.
