Call for Applications – Internship with Hive Poetry Collective: Communications & Events Intern, Spring 2024

Application Deadline: March 3, 2024

The Humanities Division is excited to announce an experiential learning opportunity for Humanities undergraduates at UC Santa Cruz to work with The Hive Poetry Collective. Internships connect Humanities majors and minors to projects in the community, with the aim of mutually benefiting students and organizations. Students gain practical experience, professional training, and learn about positions outside of the university that build on their studies in the Humanities. At the same time, community organizations benefit from students’ assistance and academic expertise.

About Hive Poetry Collective:

Hive Poetry Collective’s mission is to bring a diverse community together in appreciation of all kinds of poetry by all kinds of people. We believe that poetry, through its beauty and craft, changes people’s minds, opens them to fresh ideas, self-reflection, and self-inquiry. In so doing, poetry has the power to inspire social change.

Pursuing a vision of equity, diversity, and inclusion, we resolve to create a space which honors diversity across all lines of difference, including age, economic circumstance, ethnicity, sex, race, range of ability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, and poetic styles.

The Collective aims to challenge beliefs and assumptions about our differences and explore new, uncharted areas in our programming. Given that inclusion and openness is an evolving process, we recognize we will always have room for growth, but we pledge to consider various perspectives in order to make real, lasting, and equitable change.

Once factored into your aid offer, the award is paid through to your UC Santa Cruz student account. If you owe fees for the term in which the award is applied, the award will apply to those fees first. Any remaining funds will be issued to you via direct deposit or by check, depending on how you are signed up to receive refunds. A student must have room in their financial aid package to get a department award. If the scholarship award is for summer, you need to be enrolled in 6+ units.
