Would you like to spend a term in Washington, DC?

The Washington Program (UCDC) offers UC undergraduate students an amazing opportunity to combine coursework and unparalleled internship experiences during a quarter’s residence in our nation's capital.

UCDC is a life-changing experience that empowers young people to pursue their academic and professional goals. Students have endless opportunities to work alongside like-minded professionals and mentors while exploring all the unique opportunities that D.C. has to offer.

Humanities majors have interned at Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and The Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), as well as in various Congressional offices. In these internships, students have the chance to test-drive a career, build their portfolio or resume, and make valuable industry contacts that can be essential to landing the ideal job upon graduation.

UCDC is a University of California experiential learning program. Accepted students will live in the Washington Center and take UC-approved courses. Your financial aid package will cover a similar percentage of costs as it covers on your home campus. About half of the internships in DC are paid. Any UCDC student who receives an offer for an unpaid internship qualifies for our Subsidizing Unpaid Interns Program (SUIP) - which provide students with a $1,000 scholarship.

The deadline to apply to participate in the Fall 2024 quarter is April 1st, 2024 . UCSC students can get more information about how to apply to UCDC here.
