The Humanities Institute Undergraduate Research Fellowships
In 1996, the Humanities Division began awarding $500 to students undertaking truly innovative research activities. The Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowships support and encourage undergraduate research. The projects must involve research within any of the humanities disciplines, the research must be performed during the current academic year, and they must have a letter of support from a faculty member.
Proposals are judged on the basis of:
- Intellectual substance
- Promise of results
- Preparation of applicant
- Feasibility
Up to 10 awards are announced each year. A call for research proposals is made every fall and students have one month to respond with a research proposal. That research is then presented at the end of the academic year, each spring.
