Peter Rushton Endowed Memorial Fund

The Peter Rushton Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of the life and work of Dr. Peter Rushton. Dr. Rushton received his Ph.D. in Chinese Language and Literature from Stanford University prior to becoming a lecturer in Chinese languages at UC Santa Cruz in 1984. He was an active scholar, dedicated teacher, and champion of students interested in Chinese language and culture. He died unexpectedly at the age of 50 in 2000.

The scholarship is provided to assist students who have attained junior status and have completed two years of Chinese language study at UCSC to study Chinese in an academic setting. Scholarships are awarded between $500 and $1200.00 and student(s) must enroll in at least two or three courses at an accredited college or university in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan.
