Installing the Driver
- Install the appropriate scanner driver for your machine:
- Open the install file(most likely found in your downloads folder) and walk through the setup process
Scanning on Mac
- Once the driver has installed, plug the scanner into an available USB port on your machine.
- Using spotlight search, type Image Capture, and then select Image Capture from the results.
- Select DS-50000 from devices in the top left corner, then select Show Details at the bottom right corner.
- Place the item you want to scan face down on the scanner's flatbed and close the cover.
- On the Details panel to the right, do the following:
- Under Kind, select if the scan is in color or black and white.
- Under Resolution, select the dpi for the scan.
- Under Use Custom Size, do the following:
- Unselect to choose between standard paper sizes—such as US Letter or A4.
- Select to define a custom scan size. You may either click and drag on the overview scan, or enter precise pixel amounts to set the custom size.
- Under Scan To, browse to the location where you want to save the scan.
- Under Name, enter the name of the scanned document.
- Under Format, select the type of file you want the scan to be saved as. For example, you can save the file in different file formats—such as JPEG, PNG, or PDF.
- If scanning multiple files to PDF, select Combine into single document. After scanning, keep pressing scan to add pages to the PDF.
- Select Scan at the bottom of the screen to scan your document or picture.
- After your scan is finished, you may close the application.
Scanning on Windows
- Once the driver has installed, plug the scanner into an available USB port on your machine.
- In the search box on the taskbar, type Windows Scan, and then select Scan from the results.
- Place the item you want to scan face down on the scanner's flatbed and close the cover.
- On the Scan page, do the following:
- Under Scanner, select the scanner you want to use.
- Under Source, select the location you prefer to scan from.
- Under File type, select the type of file you want the scan to be saved as. For example, you can save the file in different file formats—such as JPEG, PNG, or PDF.
- Select Show more to show the Save file to options.
- Under Save file to, browse to the location where you want to save the scan.
- Select Scan at the bottom of the screen to scan your document or picture.
- After your scan is finished, select View to see the scanned file before you save it, or select Close to save it. You can edit the scanned document or picture in the preview that appears when you select View.
